Dr. Scheherazade Rehman is the director of the European Union Research Center (EURC), a professor of international finance/business, and a professor of international affairs at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
The EURC holds the European Commission Award for “EU Center of Excellence in the U.S.” via its American Consortium on EU Studies (ACES) of EU Centers in Washington, D.C. Dr. Rehman is also a Senior Fulbright Scholar.
She has advised a number of institutions including OPIC, USAID, U.S. State Department, The World Bank, IMF, and Central Banks and Finance Ministers of Turkey, Nigeria, Peru, Mongolia, Hungary, Poland, Russia and China. She is also currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Trade and Finance Association and the European Union Centers of Excellence in Washington, D.C. She is currently a senior partner at ICG (a global financial market assessment and wealth management consulting group) and has served on several European corporate boards.
Dr. Rehman regularly guests on various national and international televised programs on financial matters on PBS Newshour, Colbert Report, BBC World News, guest-hosted CNBC, Voice of America, Washington Post online, and C-Span Washington Journal, among others.
She has appeared several time before U.S. Congress (both House and Senate members) to discuss the current financial crisis and has spoken for the Aspen Institute, Brookings Institute, among others.
Dr. Rehman has written over 80 scholarly articles, book chapters, conference papers, and published 7 books, including The Path To European Economic and Monetary Union, Financial Crisis Management in Regional Blocs, The Quest For Exchange Rate Stability in the Next Millennium, and the latest, Corruption and Its Manifestation in the Persian Gulf (2010).

Dr. Rehman is a Senior Research Fulbright Scholar. She is also the GW director of the EU Research Center. She currently serves on the board of directors of the International Trade and Finance Association.
Professor Scheherazade Rehman was invited to be the 2006 Douglas Y.Thomas Visiting Economist Series Speaker at Bradley University and Caterpillar Inc. The Visiting Economist Series has featured seminars by distinguished economists including Milton Friedman, Robert Barro, Deidre McCloskey, James Buchanan, Douglas North. Title of the speech: “Oil and Arms: A Disastrous Environment for Economic Growth in the Middle East.”
Prior to teaching at GW, Dr. Rehman was a foreign exchange and money market trader in Bahrain (Middle East). She is also a senior partner at the International Consultants Group which specializes in Middle East financial sector development and investment management. She has worked with many international and U.S. government and private agencies, such as The World Bank, Central Banks and Finance Ministers of Turkey, Nigeria, Mongolia, Hungary, Poland, Russia, and China, GAZPROM, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID), U.S. Foreign Service Institute, U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), The Corporate Response Group, Inc., AT&T, and as financial advisor to the board of directors of Thomas David McCloud (U.K.), etc.
In 1997, she received the Senior Research Fulbright Award from the U.S. Dept of State Fulbright Commission to conduct a comprehensive research study on South & East Asian Regional Economic and Financial Development, with a case study on Pakistan.
In 2003, she received the GW School of Business Undergraduate Teaching Award, In 2002, she received the GW MBA Association Faculty of the Year Award. In 2001, she received the GW School of Business Graduate Teaching Award in International Business and the GW MBA Association Faculty of the Year Award. In 1998, she received the GW University Bender Teaching Award, and the First Annual Outstanding GW University Women of the Year Award.
