Rayan Chahwan
MSF Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Born and raised in Lebanon, Rayan graduated in 2013 from the American University of Beirut, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Rayan was and still is a distinguished athlete, captaining various competitive sports teams while developing managerial skills, leadership skills and discipline. Soon after graduating, Rayan sought to consolidate his knowledge through various internships spanning most fields of the financial sector, including commercial, investment, and private banking. Rayan felt the need to further develop his skill-set by pursuing a specialized master’s degree in Finance, which he accomplished by enrolling in the M.S. in Finance at the George Washington University. As a current student, expected to graduate in August 2015, Rayan decided to make the best of his stay in the US by getting as much exposure and experience as possible. Currently working as a graduate assistant in the M.S. in Finance department, Rayan also hopes to contribute positively towards this research project, broadening his experience with all this opportunity has to offer.
Christopher Haddad
MSF Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Christopher Haddad is a 23 year old first year MSF student at The George Washington University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Economics at the University of Maryland in June 2013, and currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland. Throughout his undergraduate years, he worked for his father’s restaurant as a manager and learned the value of efficiency. In 2012, he interned with economist Jeremy Rifkin and developed relevant research skills, and an economic scope that he now applies in the world of finance. Since joining the GWU MSF program in August 2013, he has enjoyed analyzing sectors and industries based on key figures, and has experience forming optimal portfolios of companies based on macroeconomic factors as well as company specific evaluations. As for hobbies, he is a daily market follower who engages in swing trading options. An analyst by nature, he is skilled at drawing conclusions based on quantitative and qualitative information, and communicating results in a concise and easy to understand manner.
Elizabeth Halford
MBA Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Elizabeth Halford is a Global MBA Candidate, Class of 2015. In 2008, she completed a 20 year career in the Army Engineers, including three combat tours: two in Iraq and one in the Pentagon. From 2008 to 2013, she worked as a defense consultant for BRTRC Federal Solutions supporting the deployment of a new force protection system in Afghanistan. Liz has a BS from the United States Military Academy and a MA in Political Science from Washington University in St Louis. She taught Advanced American Politics and Research Methods at West Point as an Associate Professor from 1997 to 2000. She also served as an adjunct faculty at GW in the MA in Legislative Affairs program before deploying to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2002. Liz is a Project Management Professional (PMP), LEED Green Associate, and a member of the Fairfax County Building for All Committee. She is specializing in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship at the GW School of Business and seeking a new career as a small business owner and sustainable (“green”) construction consultant. Liz hails from St Louis, MO and currently lives in Alexandria, VA.
Elizabeth Moehlenbrock
MBA Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Elizabeth Moehlenbrock is a first year Global MBA and MS in Government Contracts student at The George Washington University. Prior to attending the GWSB, she was a contract specialist for the Department of the Army, 411th Contracting Support Brigade in Seoul, Korea. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Marketing with an International Emphasis and a minor in Chemistry from the College of William & Mary. She has also worked for the Science Application International Corporation as a contracts representative, and has received several honors and awards throughout her career including the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service from the Department of the Army.
Chang Hyun Song
MBA Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Chang Hyun Song is currently a first year Global MBA student at The George Washington University. He was a manager of international business for Nexen Tire Corporation. He began his work with the company in 2009. Prior to working at Nexen Tire Corporation, Chang Hyun worked for Kiswire ArcelorMittal, Ltd (KAM). He majored in Material Science & Engineering at Kyungsung University in South Korea. After graduating, he was hired on a full-time basis as a Quality Assurance Associate, working for the Quality Assurance Team at KAM. Over the next seven years, Chang Hyun was promoted once and transferred to an Overseas Team eventually ending as a Deputy manager of international business. Chang Hyun has a deep-rooted fascination in cross-cultural management and international business that focus on improving corporate organization behavior and international trading on corporate level.
Liyuan Su
MSF Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Liyuan is a first-year MSF student at GW and is set to graduate in 2015. Prior to pursuing her master degree in GWU, she worked in Ernst & Young China as an Engagement Manager for five and a half years. She had lots of experience in financial audit, especially in manufacture and retail industry. Before she joined Ernst & Young, She had 7 years of study in accounting in both Fudan University and Shanghai University of Finance Economics and got her first master degree in accounting in 2006. .Liyuan is an affiliate of the ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). She is also a member of the CICPA (the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants). In her spare time, Liyuan enjoys watching movies, reading novels and traveling. She also likes spending time with her family and friends. With her experience in financial audit and knowledge learned in MSF program, Liyuan looks forward to contributing to the 10-K research project and enjoying her new learning opportunity.
Chu Xu
Maccy Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Chu Xu is a first-year master student majoring in accounting at the George Washington University School of Business. In 2012, she worked as a financial manager and a risk-monitoring assistant with Industrial Bank Co., LTD. She advised Industrial Bank Co., LTD on issues related to internal control systems. Chu Xu holds a B.A. degree in management from Jilin University in China. During undergrad, she completed several projects regarding financial reports disclosure and won the best paper awards from Jilin University School of Business. Chu Xu wrote the academic article, “The Literature Review of the Determinants of Capital Structure of Listed Companies,” which was published in an accounting journal in China. Her interests include both financial and managerial accounting as well as the links between accounting and economics.
Han Zhang
Maccy Class of 2015, The George Washington University
Han (Sadie) Zhang is a master of Accountancy students from The George Washington University, School of Business. In June 2013, she earned a bachelor degree in Finance from Wuhan University of Technology in China. Han Zhang has done researches on the financial effects of oversee M&A on Chinese commercial bank during her undergraduate study. And during her study in George Washington University, she has done a research on whether managers at average IPO firms have significant incentives to practice earnings management in the financial accounting course. Han Zhang has perfected her professionalism through several internships, concerning both finance and accounting. She did two internships in commercial banks: one in the Credit Control Group in DBS Bank (China) LTD and the other in the Corporate Banking Department in China Construction Bank. Han Zhang is also a certified tax preparer in DC EITC Campaign. During the 2014 tax season, she helped low income tax payers to prepare their tax returns and provided professional advice to clients when being consulted.
