The GW School of Business is proud to announce it will provide special grants of 25-50% off tuition for all alumni from the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 for graduate education beginning this fall.

All GW undergraduates from the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 enrolling in graduate programs at the GW School of Business (GWSB) within a year of graduating are eligible for this grant. “Undergraduates are facing unprecedented challenges, graduating into an uncertain job market," said GWSB Dean Anuj Mehrotra. "A question many graduating seniors ask is whether they should go directly to work following graduation or earn an advanced degree. For those graduating students who wish to take graduate business classes this fall, GWSB will offer tuition assistance in the form of a grant.”

The tuition grant can be applied to most GWSB master’s degrees and all credit-bearing graduate certificates. GWSB graduate students often mix-and-match learning online and on campus — but for graduating seniors located across the U.S. and around the world, there are many graduate program options offered fully online to which this tuition grant can apply.

Liesl Riddle, GWSB associate dean for graduate programs, explained why the structure is so appealing for graduate education. “We invite GW graduating seniors to consider taking hard-skill and soft-skill courses that will strengthen their resumes based on their career aspirations. All of our graduate education programs have been adapted to fit the contemporary needs for students that want to earn respected and competitive credit-bearing credentials, while focusing on their careers.”

Frequently Asked Questions

All George Washington University undergraduate seniors graduating in spring 2020, fall 2020, spring 2021 and fall 2021 are eligible.

Grants for Graduates-eligible students who wish to pursue a master's degree or a singular stand-alone graduate certificate will receive 25-50% off the cost of tuition for the program. The grant applies to tuition and does not include any fees associated with graduate programs such as enrollment fees. The grant includes a 10% discount through the Grad2Grad program, for which students are automatically enrolled (no separate application required).

The grants do not apply to any Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees or the Master of Interdisciplinary Business Studies degree. The grants also do not apply to GWSB non-credit-bearing graduate and executive education programs, including short courses and non-credit-bearing certificates.

Admissions requirements for GW undergraduate seniors graduating in spring 2020 through fall 2021 and applying for the tuition grant are the same as for any other students applying to GWSB master’s degree and graduate certificate programs.

GMAT/GRE test waivers are available across admissions for graduate certificates and most master’s degrees, depending on the applicant's qualifications. GW 2020 and 2021 graduates should talk with the GWSB graduate admissions team about possible waivers.

The grant will be awarded to GW undergraduate seniors graduating in spring 2020, fall 2020, spring 2021 and fall 2021 who enroll in programs at GWSB. Students are required to immediately enroll (excluding summer) in a qualifying GWSB graduate program after graduating.

The tuition grant applies towards the tuition of any course completed for the program within four consecutive semesters of enrollment.

Summer courses are not covered by the Grants for Grads program — and accordingly, if you choose to take a course during the summer, that summer does not count as one of the four consecutive semesters. Your summer courses may be covered by the Grad2Grad program, however.

To maintain eligibility, students must be continuously enrolled, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3, and be free of any student corrective or disciplinary action.

The tuition grant applies when students enter the graduate portion of their program and start paying the master’s degree per-credit rate tuition.

The grant includes a 10% discount through the Grad2Grad program, for which students are automatically enrolled (no separate application required).

All GW benefits-eligible employees and dependents are covered by the tuition remission program offered by the university. Learn more about this program and its policies.
