Jennifer Merluzzi, associate professor of strategic management and public policy, and Ron Burt, University of Chicago Booth School of Business, co-authored a research paper, “One Path Does Not Fit All: A Career Path Approach to the Study of Professional Women Entrepreneurs.” Their research establishes a career path framework to study the careers of professional women involving self-employment. Studying the careers of over 800 women graduates from an MBA program over 60 graduating cohorts, the paper presents evidence of the varied ways women engage in self-employment rather than starting from a singular expectation of “lesser” women entrepreneurs. The paper will be published in a forthcoming issue of Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice.
