Danny Leipziger, professor of international business and managing director of the Growth Dialogue, has been asked by the president of the World Bank to give advice to the government of Uzbekistan, where President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is undertaking major economic reforms. At the conclusion of a May exploratory visit to the central Asian nation, Dr. Leipziger left behind a blueprint for establishing a national economic council and an international advisory group, resulting in a presidential decree to establish both. Dr. Leipziger will return to Uzbekistan this month to help establish the international advisory group, which he will chair as the lead adviser to the prime minister.
