GWSB's Kirsten Martin Wins Society for Business Ethics Board of Directors Election

Congratulations to Kirsten Martin, associate professor of strategic management and public policy, on winning the 2018 Society for Business Ethics (SBE) Board of Directors election. Dr. Martin will take office at the SBE annual conference this August in Chicago.

Dr. Martin researches business ethics, privacy, technology and corporate responsibility. She has written about privacy and the ethics of technology in leading academic journals (Journal of Business Ethics, Harvard Journal of Law and Technology, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Legal Studies, The Information Society and others) as well as practitioner publications such as MISQ Executive. She recently delivered a Ted Talk which was viewed by tens of thousands on YouTube. 

She is the research and business ethics editor for the Journal of Business Ethics and the recipient of National Science Foundation grants for her work on privacy, technology, and ethics. Dr. Martin is a member of the advisory board for the Future Privacy Forum and the Census Bureau’s National Advisory Committee. She is also a fellow at the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics. Dr. Martin earned her B.S. in engineering from the University of Michigan and her MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Martin has been consistently active within SBE for over 16 years, since her days attending the annual meeting as a doctoral student. Her first academic presentations were at SBE. She is committed to ensuring SBE and its annual meeting remains open to new ideas, voices and narratives while maintaining a normative, critical lens on the practice of business.
