Application System FAQ:

Why is the university changing its application system?

We are transitioning to a new application system to enhance your application experience, offering a more user-friendly interface and improved features. Our goal is to make applying to GW Business as smooth and efficient as possible.

I have an incomplete application in the Legacy Application Portal, but I would like to apply for a future 2026 term. How can I do so?

You should create and submit a new application using our New Application System. Upon doing so, complete the GWSB Document Transfer Request Form to move your documents from your old application to your new one. Please note that the university will hold your documents in the Legacy Application Portal for a period of time before they become inaccessible.

I already paid the application fee on the Legacy Application Portal. Will my application fee carry over if I switch terms?

If your application has been processed and evaluated, your application fee will not be transferred to the new system. Should your application be “In-Progress,” please contact businessatgwu [dot] edu (business[at]gwu[dot]edu) to transfer this payment. Note that you should have already submitted a 2026 Application in the New Application System portal prior to making this request.

I have an application fee waiver code. Will it work on the New Application System?

Yes, it should work in the New Application System

If I request my documents to be transferred from the Legacy Portal to my new 2026 application, will all my information transfer automatically?

After submitting your GWSB Document Transfer Request, we will endeavor to transfer your previously submitted supporting documents, such as transcripts or letters of recommendation. However, you will still need to complete all required sections of the application form in the New Application System. The document transfer request is specifically for the supporting documents.

I have already sent my transcripts/letters of recommendation to the university. Do I need to resend them if I am applying for a 2026 term?

A: If you are applying for a 2026 term via the New Application System and have previously submitted documents, first complete your new application. Then, complete the GWSB Document Transfer Request Form to trigger the transfer of your existing documents to your new application.

I have moved my application over to a future 2026+ term on the legacy system. Can I access my application on the new application system?

Data migration is currently taking place. Please continue to use our legacy system until our graduate admissions team contacts you over email to set up your new login credentials for the new system.

Will my recommenders need to resubmit their letters if I am now applying for a 2026 term through the new system?

We will attempt to transfer previously submitted letters of recommendation if you submit a GWSB Document Transfer Request form after starting your application in the New Application System. However, depending on the age of the letter or if your recommender wishes to update their letter, if you add them to your new application, the option to submit a new one will be available directly through the new system.

Who do I contact if I have technical difficulties with the Legacy Application Portal or the New Application System?

For technical issues with either application system, please contact businessatgwu [dot] edu (business[at]gwu[dot]edu)
