The GW School of Business is excited to share that alumnus Jeff Gottlieb, BBA '88, and his wife, Laura, have generously established an endowed scholarship to support GW Business undergraduate students with need-based financial aid.

Reflecting on his journey, Jeff shared that creating a scholarship at GW Business felt like a natural next step: “As I thought about how blessed I have been, thanks to my GW education, it seemed a scholarship to help students in need would be a wonderful addition to our philanthropy.”

Jeff was drawn to the George Washington University School of Government and Business Administration (now the GW School of Business) because of its academic reputation and location in the heart of the nation’s capital, surrounded by the city’s beautiful landscapes, monuments, and metropolitan atmosphere.

“The education I received at GW provided a strong foundation for my career,” said Jeff. “Aside from the obvious skill set I learned as part of my finance curriculum, I became a better writer and public speaker, which has served me well throughout my career.”

Jeff is the CEO of ResinTech, a New Jersey-based chemical manufacturing company, specializing in ion exchange for water and fluid purification.

After completing his BBA degree in finance at GW in 1988, Jeff started his career as a credit analyst at Mellon Bank Corporation in Philadelphia. In 1991, he joined his father at ResinTech, which was a startup at the time, launched in their family’s home basement with three employees and an SBA loan. Today, the company employs more than 400 people and provides its water treatment products and services globally. ResinTech is most proud of building the first new Ion Exchange Resin manufacturing plant in North America in nearly 50 years.

For Jeff and Laura, philanthropy is deeply personal. “Giving back to help others has been a cornerstone of our family and business values for many years,” said Jeff. “Our primary focus has been helping young adults, especially those with special needs.”

Over the past thirty years, Jeff and his family have also been active supporters of the Jewish community. More recently, they’ve extended their efforts to focus on the city of Camden, New Jersey, where ResinTech has opened new factories.

Jeff’s advice to current GW Business students is to remain humble and true to their core values. “Protect your character and reputation at all costs,” he said, “and never be afraid to surround yourself with people better and smarter than yourself.”

“Most importantly,” he added, “pick a life partner who will support you through good times and bad as you experience all that life has to offer.”
