WASHINGTON, DC Feb 7, 2018 —Lisa Delpy Neirotti, associate professor of tourism and sport management, and GWSB students in her “Behind the Scenes at the Olympic Games” class have landed in PyeongChang, Republic of Korea, for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Students in the course learn about the business side of the games in preparation for traveling to the Olympics, where they do data collection and other research work. While in PyeongChang, the students will conduct research on all aspects of the games, visiting various event venues and meeting with International Olympic Committee (IOC) members and staff, U.S. Olympic Committee representatives, sponsors, volunteers and athletes.

“The Olympics have always been a passion of mine, as well as a major research area,” Dr. Delpy Neirotti said. “The Olympics set the direction. It’s the ultimate sports event—and it offers many great lessons to be learned.” This year’s winter games mark Dr. Delpy Neirotti’s 19th time attending the Olympics, and her 15th with a GWSB class.

Check the GWSB 2018 Winter Olympics blog for updates throughout the course of the games.
