Dr. Susan Copp is the Director of Instructional Design at the George Washington University School of Business, where she leads strategic initiatives to advance the quality, innovation, and impact of online and hybrid learning. She specializes in building community and fostering engagement in digital learning environments, with a focus on evidence-based practices, learning analytics, and the responsible integration of AI tools to support student success.

An active scholar and practitioner, Dr. Copp has presented at leading conferences including AECT, OLC and CELDA, sharing her work on critical thinking in online classrooms, the use of simulations for applied learning and leveraging case studies to promote deeper analysis.  Her scholarly work explores strategies for fostering community and enhancing learning in online environments. 
Dr. Copp teaches graduate level courses on online pedagogical practices, and digital learning tools at both the master’s and doctoral levels. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a development editor in educational and trade publishing. Today she consults nationally and internationally on best practices in online teaching and learning. 
She holds a Ph.D. in Education from Ohio University, an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology, and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Dr. Copp is an active member of AECT, the Online Learning Consortium (OLC), and Cognition and Learning in the Digital Age (CELDA). She is also a Certified Master Reviewer for Quality Matters.
