Dean’s Awards Recognize Faculty and Staff

July 24, 2025

Yi-Chun “Chad” Ho, an associate professor of Information Systems and Technology Management, has become the first GW Business faculty member to receive the Dean’s Emerging Scholar Award, Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award and—most recently—this year’s Senior Faculty Research Award.

The honor marks a fast-rising academic career that, four years ago, saw INFORMS Information Systems Society name Ho as the recipient of the Sandy Slaughter Early Career Award, which recognizes individuals on a path toward making outstanding intellectual contributions to the information systems field. Much of Ho’s research focuses on information technologies and their impact on business and consumers.

Ho has also been the recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award and the Outstanding ISTM Teaching Excellence Award; he was a nominee for the university-wide Bender Teaching Excellence Award. He contributes to the development of his field through his work as an associate editor at the academic journal Information System Research.

The 2025 Dean’s Teaching Award went to Donald Buzinkai, a teaching assistant professor of accountancy. His students frequently cite his engagement in the classroom and his willingness to make time for them outside of class. His courses are marked by a push for excellence.

Jungho Suh, whose expertise on managerial strategies, business trends, and service recovery is frequently tapped by national media, received the 2025 External Engagement Award for “exceptional and sustained contributions” that elevated the reputation of the School of Business as a thought leader in global management. Suh’s prolific media engagement in the 2024-2025 academic year included nearly two dozen appearances and expert citations on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and in the Washington Post, Condé Nast Traveler, and The National Interest.

As project director of the GW Korean Management Institute, Suh was instrumental in convening the Global Korean Entrepreneurship Forum and the KMI & Hyundai Joint Session on Social Entrepreneurship, bringing together academia, industry, and international business communities.

The Faculty Service Award was given to Şenay Ağca, a professor of finance and a professor of decision sciences who has served as the school’s chief diversity officer since 2022. This year she also chaired the dean’s search committee.

Ağca leads the Dean's Diversity Council, Pathways to Inclusion Summer Working Group, and GW Salary Equity Committee. She organizes the annual symposium that anchors the school’s Diversity and Allyship Week and, beyond GW, she is active with AFFECT, which promotes the advancement of women in academia.

For her work as director of the Master of Science Programs, her professionalism, and her support of the Office of the Dean and the school’s doctoral students, Hope Hall received the 2025 Staff Service Award.

The Dean’s Inclusive Community Award went to career consultant Pilar Segura and Professor of Hospitality Management Liang “Larry” Yu. Segura, one of the longest-serving members of the Dean’s Diversity Council and an active member of the Inclusive Community and Culture Working Group, has helped with retreat planning, the development of unconscious bias training, and took the lead in organizing a neurodiversity panel for Diversity and Allyship Week. Yu also sits on the Dean’s Diversity Council, where he serves on the Inclusive Teaching and Research Working Group. He was pivotal in organizing the Indigenous Leadership and Student Experience Program during Diversity and Allyship Week.
