Ticket Distribution

Please note: The information on this page applies only to GW School of Business students. Ticket distribution begins on Monday, April 1. Your allotted tickets are not guaranteed after Friday, April 26; please retrieve your tickets on or before that date. Also, please review all the information on this page before coming in to retrieve your tickets. Failure to do so will result in a delay of your requests.

 

Dates, Hours and Location

Dates

Ticket distribution for GWSB students begins on Monday, April 1, 2019 and continues through Friday, April 26, 2019.

Please be aware that your allotted tickets are not guaranteed after Friday, April 26; you must retrieve your tickets on or before that date. All remaining tickets will be placed in the lottery for extra tickets. Students may still come to Duquès Hall, Suite 355 to see if tickets are available after April 26, however students should be aware that after Apirl 26 tickets will not be guaranteed. 

Distribution Hours and Location

Distribution hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Duquès Hall, Suite 355.

What to Bring

All students must have a photo ID and provide an electronic or paper copy of their graduation survey confirmation (see below). No exceptions will be made.

 

Graduation Survey

In order to obtain commencement tickets, all students must first complete the graduation survey. This survey is required by the university. When retrieving tickets in person, students must bring in a photo ID and provide an electronic or paper copy of their graduation survey confirmation.

Ticket Information

Number of guest tickets per GW School of Business student:

  • GWSB Undergraduate Celebration: six guest tickets
  • GWSB Masters and Doctoral Celebration: four guest tickets
  • University Commencement: guest tickets not required to attend — however, for planning purposes, students are encouraged to register their guests here

Tickets are for guest access. All GWSB Graduates who are participating in the GWSB Celebration or the University Commencement do not require a ticket. Your cap and gown must be worn to participate in both ceremonies.

Please be sure that you are reading the correct information pertaining to your status, there is info for current on campus students, current distance students, and former students (meaning those who completed their degree or last class in the summer or fall of 2018). Remember to follow all instructions. Failure to do so may delay your ticket request.

Important: please note that guest tickets are not required to attend the University Commencement on the National Mall — however, for planning purposes, students are encouraged to register their guests here.

Current On Campus Students

2019 Spring/Summer Graduates

Students who are completing their degrees/classes in the spring or summer of 2019 as an on campus student may retrieve their GWSB Celebration tickets during ticket distribution.

Current Distance & Online Students

2019 Spring/Summer Graduates

Distance or Online students scheduled to complete their degree in the spring or summer of 2019 may retrieve their GWSB Celebration tickets via mail or during ticket distribution.

All Former Students - On Campus, Online or Distance

2018 Summer/Fall Graduates

Students who completed their degrees in the fall or summer of 2018 may retrieve their GWSB Celebration tickets via mail or during ticket distribution.

World Executive MBA Program

Tickets will be distributed by Executive Programs; please email [email protected].

Ph.D. Graduates

Tickets will be distributed by the Office of Doctoral Programs, Duquès Hall, Suite 450.  For additional information, please contact Elizabeth Huff at (202) 994-6298.

If you are unable to retrieve your tickets during ticket distribution and are not permitted to have your tickets mailed, you may request that a designee retrieve your tickets on your behalf by completing one of these online forms:

Undergraduate Ticket Designee Request

When your designee arrives to retrieve your tickets, your designee should provide their photo ID along with the email (electronic or paper) from [email protected] approving your request.

 

Ticket Mail Requests

Ticket Mail Requests are designated for all 2018 graduates, all 2019 online/distance students and for students currently studying abroad. All current, 2019 on-campus students must retrieve their guest tickets in person during the GWSB ticket distribution.

Please complete the electronic form for ticket mail requests no later than 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25. Any mail requests made after this date are not guaranteed.

The Graduation Survey

In order to process your mail request, you must complete the Masters or senior graduation survey. We will connect with the office of Survey and Research Analysis (SRA) on your behalf, you DO NOT need to show or send us any proof of having completed the survey. SRA will be able to confirm. The survey will become available in late March.

If you complete the survey by Friday, April 13th. Your tickets will be mailed out to you the following week. We will notify you via email when your tickets have been mailed. If you complete the survey any time after Friday, April 13th, your mail request will be finalized and processed 3 business days after. We will notify you via email when your tickets have been mailed.

The 2019 graduation survey will become available in the last week of March.

Special Mail Requests

If you believe that you have an extenuating circumstance in which you cannot retrieve your tickets, nor locate a designee to retrieve tickets on your behalf, you may complete the electronic ticket mail request form for either GWSB Masters or GWSB Seniors and explain your circumstance. All special requests will be processed within 4 business days of receipt of request.

Extra tickets are awarded after the initial round of ticket distribution ends on Friday, April 26. The waitlist does not operate on a first-come, first-served basis. If extra tickets are made available, you will receive an email notification from our office on Monday, April 29, 2019.

GWSB Celebrations

GW University Commencement

Guest tickets are not required to attend the University Commencement on the National Mall — however, for planning purposes, students are encouraged to register their guests here. Distribution of extra tickets for the GW Commencement are managed through the university’s central events office.
