First-year Global MBA students gathered Monday, January 13 for the 2020 Consulting Abroad Program (CAP) Kick-Off. CAP is a practicum sequence for all first-year Global MBA students which provides them with faculty-mentored, live-client international consulting experience. This semester, twelve student teams will work with global partners in Germany, Singapore and South Africa. The program will culminate with a two-week overseas engagement in May, during which time students will present their final recommendations to their global partners.

The CAP Kick-Off is designed to provide a foundation of knowledge to best prepare students for the intensive semester-long experience. This year’s program included an alumni panel discussion, an interactive teaming session facilitated by Associate Professor of Management Margaret Ormiston, an overview of client communication best practices led by second-year GMBAs Drew Otto and Aaron Steele, a career integration workshop led by FDFCC Career Coaches Pilar Little and Jennifer Windus, and an overview of storyboarding essentials led by GWSB alumnus Jay Nester, MBA ’18.

GWSB professors Dr. Anna Helm, Dr. David Halliday and Dr. Yun Zhang are serving as faculty leaders for this year’s program. GWSB has partnered with a diversity of companies for the 2020 program. In Germany, students will be working with CareerFoundry, Mitte, PwC and Qunomedical. In South Africa, students will be working with Cenri, Darling Sweet, Discovery and Lulalend. In Singapore, students will be working with APEX, Marriott International, Pundi X and VC Growth Partners.
