GW Business’s commitment to support faculty and staff navigating rapid advancements in artificial intelligence has proven to be a focus that pushes the school’s community to innovate, discover and use AI effectively. Students, faculty and staff were recently recognized for their advancements using AI with GW Business’s inaugural AI in Action Awards. The awards from the Dean’s Office celebrate those who have integrated artificial intelligence into research, teaching and institutional operations at the school.
The awards are given to recipients who excel in three categories of AI contributions: research, teaching and operations.
Research Award Recipients
The Research AI in Action Award recognized staff, faculty and students who advance knowledge through AI-powered methodologies, analysis frameworks and scholarly innovation.
Herman Aguinis, Arvam Tucker Distinguished Scholar and professor of management, was recognized for developing a framework for using generative AI as a research methods assistant to advance theory development, teaching and institutional effectiveness.
Joel Gehman, chair and professor of strategic management and public policy and Lindner-Gambal professor of business ethics, was awarded for implementing a hybrid human-AI analysis model for evaluating corporate impact reporting.
The dean also recognized five other faculty and students who are advancing AI knowledge through research innovation through honorable mentions.
- Vikram R. Bhargava, assistant professor of strategic management and public policy, for his work on Artificial Intelligence and the Value of Choice
- Vineet Bhagwat, associate professor of finance, and Chukwuma Dim, assistant professor of finance, for their work on The Market’s Mirror: Using LLM Personas to Measure Demographics-Based Investor Disagreement
- Korel Gundem, doctoral student of decision sciences, and Zhengling Qi, associate professor of decision sciences, who developed Concept-Grounded Faith Explanations for Student Success Early-Warning at GW Business
Teaching Award Recipients
The Teaching AI in Action Award recognized staff, faculty and students who are transforming the student experience with AI-integrated curricula, tools and pedagogical approaches.
Yixin Lu, associate professor of information systems and technology management, was awarded for her creation of a “vibe coding” social media management toolkit for use in the business classroom.
Rodimiro Rodrigo, assistant professor of international business, was recognized for redesigning the IBUS 3001 (Introduction to International Business) curriculum to focus on student readiness for an AI-augmented workplace.
Ziyuan Zhou, doctoral student of decision sciences, Long He, associate professor of decision sciences, and Zhengling Qi, associate professor of decision sciences, were all awarded for their work on MarkMate, an AI-powered grading assistant designed to assist with assessments across GW Business courses.
The dean also gave honorable mentions to the following faculty and staff who have evolved the student classroom experience with AI integration.
- Oded Rozenbaum, associate professor of accountancy, created Ollie to AI Teaching Assistant: A Scalable Model for Student Engagement and Persona-Based Learning
- Michael Tadesse, teaching assistant professor of marketing, created and taught AI Applications in Marketing Strategy, featured on GW Today.
- Faith Bradley, teaching assistant professor of information systems and technology management, founded Capital AI at GW Business.
- Jungho Suh, teaching assistant professor of management and project director of the Korean Management Institute, created a TA Bot: An AI-Powered Teaching Assistant
- Şenay Ağca, professor of finance and decision sciences, was awarded for FinTech: Digital Innovation in Financial Markets
- Kathy Korman Frey, industry instructor of entrepreneurship and director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (CFEE), was recognized for the WEL AI Board of Advisors Exercise
Operations Award Recipients
The Operations AI in Action Award recognized a staff member who streamlines institutional effectiveness through intelligent data systems and operational automation.
Cameron Stopak, senior data analyst, applied AI methodologies to streamline GW Business data procurement for institutional ranking analysis.
