2021 Faculty and Staff Award Winners Announced

The GW School of Business (GWSB) today announced the winners of its annual faculty and staff awards. “What these awards do is bring our community together to celebrate examples of excellence," said GWSB Dean Anuj Mehrotra. "This has been a difficult year and these colleagues have led the advancement of student services, teaching and research. Thank you to all our faculty and staff. We are pleased to offer this special recognition for these individuals for their outstanding contributions.”

GW Faculty Awards 

GW New Emeriti Faculty Award 

These members of the faculty have been, or will be, approved by the Board of Trustees at the May meeting, inducted into the Society of the Emeriti this academic year. This society was established to maintain close ties between retired faculty members and the university.

GW Silver Anniversary Faculty Awards

These active-status faculty have completed 25 years of continuous full-time service by spring 2021 (beginning in 1996).

Dean's Research Awards

Emerging Scholar Award

Recognized for impactful research, including an ongoing research program that promises to make a significant contribution to business scholarship. Ballesteros was eligible as a tenure track assistant/associate professor with at least three years of employment at GWSB.

Senior Faculty Research Award

Recognized for sustained, outstanding, and continuing contributions to scholarly research in the field of business and noteworthy contributions to our research culture. Hoffman and Novak were eligible as tenured faculty.

Dean's Teaching Awards

Teaching Award for Tenured/Tenure-Earning Faculty

Recognized for outstanding teaching contributions, such as excellence in instruction, course or curriculum design, efforts to enhance teaching and/or the student academic experience over multiple years. Click was eligible as a faculty member. 

Teaching Award for Specialized Faculty

Recognized for outstanding teaching contributions, such as excellence in instruction, course or curriculum design, efforts to enhance teaching and/or the student academic experience over multiple years. Lake was eligible as a full-time teaching faculty member. 

Dean's Service Awards

Dean's Inclusive Community Award

Awarded to a member of the faculty or staff who has made extraordinary contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion at GWSB. Johnson was eligible as a full-time faculty/staff member with at least three years of employment.  

Faculty Service Award

Recognized extraordinary and sustained service contributions to the School of Business. Typically, recognition for contributions that extend over multiple years that help support and advance the mission, vision and values of GWSB. Solomon was eligible as a faculty member with at least three years of employment.

Staff Service Award

Recognized for going beyond their usual duties over multiple years to help support and promote a culture of excellence at GWSB. Copp and Wood were eligible as full-time staff members with at least three years of employment.

External Engagement Award

Recognized for extraordinary and sustained contributions to the reputation of the School of Business by engaging external stakeholders, such as alumni, the local business community, and the media. In particular, we will acknowledge contributions that extend over multiple years that bring positive recognition to GWSB and its programs. Handorf was eligible as faculty or staff member with at least three years of employment at GWSB.
