The George Washington University School of Business today announced the hiring of Mark E. Strassman as the executive director of the school’s F. David Fowler Career Center. Mr. Strassman comes to GWSB from Anderson Knight, LLC, a Washington, D.C., metropolitan area business consulting and executive search firm he founded in 1999.

“As the founder, CEO and president of a very successful executive search firm specializing in the financial and accounting sectors, Mark Strassman has compiled an impressive record in the areas of career development, human-resource management and strategic business planning,” Dean Anuj Mehrotra said. “He has the experience and vision to do an excellent job directing the F. David Fowler Career Center, which is one of GWSB’s most important assets.”

“Mark Strassman brings an entrepreneurial spirit along with a history of developing deep relationships with employers and job seekers that will be invaluable in expanding our students’ opportunities,” Mitch Blaser, GWSB Advisory Council chairman, said. “We are fortunate to have someone with his credentials and experience for this critical role.”

GWSB’s F. David Fowler Career Center supports students and alumni in developing lifelong career management skills and building partnerships among students, alumni, employers and faculty, resulting in rewarding and fulfilling careers. The center provides career coaching, including resume preparation guidance and interview training, and puts GWSB students and graduates in touch with recruiters from top firms for internship and employment opportunities.

As executive director of the FDFCC, Mr. Strassman will oversee a function that provides vital student services that advance students’ personal, academic and career goals. He will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of ongoing career initiatives by providing effective, high-quality, student-focused programs and services managed by the FDFCC team. Mr. Strassman will also be working to facilitate the creation of new and enhanced student opportunities and experiences in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

“Working in a campus environment and working with our future business leaders is something I have longed to do for many years,” Mr. Strassman said. “I’m looking forward to working with the Fowler Center’s accomplished staff and alongside the deans to continue the ascension of GWSB.”

Mr. Strassman will begin as FDFCC executive director on April 29.
