MSGC Admission

Admission Overview

The MS in Government Contracts (MSGC) is an interdisciplinary degree offered by the George Washington University Law School and the School of Business. While the MSGC degree is awarded by the GW School of Business, the program is co-administered by the two schools.

Admissions decisions are made jointly by the Law School and the School of Business.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree and strong academic performance from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • At least three years of professional, full-time work experience in the field of government contracts.

Online Application Requirements

To submit a completed application, you must fill out the online application and upload the following documents:

  • Completed Online Application: With non-refundable application fee.
  • Current Résumé: Uploaded through the online application system.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation: From professional and/or academic references.
  • Statement of Purpose: Describe how the MSGC program will help you achieve career objectives and professional goals. (500 words or less).

Additional Application Requirements

  • Transcripts: All admitted students will be required to submit official, sealed academic transcripts with proof of their bachelor’s degree. There is no need to submit transcripts at the time when you first apply; you may do so after admission. Once admitted, please submit transcripts from all of the colleges and/or universities you have attended where you received 15 credits or more, whether or not a degree program was completed or the credits appear as transfer credits on another transcript.

    International applicants should upload the English-language version of their transcripts or a copy of a credentialed evaluation. For a list of acceptable foreign credential evaluation services, please visit nacs.org.

  • GMAT Score or GRE Score*: Test date must be within past five years. GMAT code: QK4-4F-40; GRE code: 5246

    *You may apply for a GMAT waiver if you demonstrate completion of one of the following requirements: a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.25 or better, a prior master’s degree, or more than five years of relevant, professional full-time work experience. Note that this is not a promise to waive your GMAT requirement, but rather an option for you to request a waiver of this requirement. Please contact [email protected] for more details. International Applicants

International applicants must submit one of the following—an official TOEFL score of at least 100 (internet-based test) or an official IELTS score of 7.0 with no individual band score below 6.0.

Exceptions To This Requirement:

  • You have earned a bachelor, master, or doctoral degree from an institution in which English is the language of instruction and the official language of the country in which the university is located. Applicants from the United States and the following  countries are exempt from this requirement.
  • You have earned a bachelor, master, or doctoral degree from an institution that is accredited by a U.S. regional accrediting agency—see list of approved schools

Admitted Student Profile

This program attracts top academic and professional talent. We do not have minimum requirements for test scores, GPA or work experience. Statistics from the most recent admission period are as follows:
