Elana Meyers Taylor (MTA '11) has finally struck gold.
On Monday in Cortina, Meyers Taylor captured the gold medal in the monobob, earning her sixth Olympic medal across five Winter Games. With the victory, she ties Bonnie Blair for the most Winter Olympic medals won by an American woman.
The milestone adds to an already historic collection that includes three silver medals and two bronze. Her Olympic journey began in 2010 with a bronze medal in two-woman bobsled at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics—and she has reached the podium at every Games since.
A former George Washington softball standout, Meyers Taylor was GW’s first-ever softball recruit and remains the only player in program history to have her number retired. From the diamond to the ice track, her career reflects sustained excellence, resilience, and a legacy that now stands among the greatest in U.S. Winter Olympic history.
