Melissa assumed the role of assistant director of Alumni Relations for the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) in July 2018. As part of her work, Melissa focuses on the development of programs, events, and branding opportunities to highlight the School of Business, its faculty and departments, and on enhancing the engagement of the GWSB alumni community through meaningful programs and events.

Melissa previously served as the manager of leadership programming for the Fred W. Smith National Library for the study of George Washington at the historic Mount Vernon Estate, where her work focused on the content creation and program facilitation for high-end corporate boards, NGOs, government and military groups, and higher education administrators.

With a background working in both higher education and non-profits, Melissa has facilitated several presentations and training sessions for college groups, and for professional staff at both regional and national conferences, particularly focused on women’s leadership development and in using technology to develop mentoring and support networks for female students and professionals.

Melissa spent almost six years in student affairs at Purdue University where she developed training modules and curriculum for a community of over 700 residential women. She also previously served as assistant program director at Presidential Classroom, a non-profit civic service organization just outside of Washington, D.C.

Melissa earned her B.A. in communication at the University of Kentucky and her M.A. in communication with a focus in media studies and risk management at George Mason University.
