Angela Petras is the Associate Director of Communities of Practice at the GWU School of Business. Prior to this role, she spent 5 years as the MBA Career Coach focused on the field of Consulting at GWSB. She recently developed and launched a strong example of a successful Community of Practice -- the competitive Mentoring & Immersion Program for Consulting (MIPC) at the Business School. This rigorous 2-year co-curricular program prepares students to be interview, employer and client ready, and provides them with the skills and tools needed to be a successful consultant, through practical hands-on consulting projects, rigorous in-class learning sessions and dedicated employer mentors.
MIPC has been very effective in helping students land internships and full-time employment and has built a community of internal and external stakeholders dedicated to the career success of our students. Angela's current role involves building similar communities focused on enhancing students' career success in other areas such as finance, marketing, international development, etc. In this role, Angela is working very closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Prior to joining GWSB, Angela spent nearly 3 years as a Career Coach at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. She is a certified professional co-active coach (CPCC) and works with clients on career and leadership development. Her coaching expertise is inspired by her extensive experience in various countries and cultures. Prior to Georgetown, Angela spent 3 years as a Senior Career Transition Consultant for DrakeBeamMorin, 4 years in San Francisco as a Change Management leader for a start up firm, a year with the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of Business as a Director of Projects for Executive Education, and 6+ years with Accenture as a management consultant for organizational change management and business process redesign.
Angela's top values are community and collaboration, she loves working with students and is dedicated to helping people to succeed. She has lived in Turkey, Italy and Greece, and studied 5 languages (Greek, Turkish, Spanish, Italian, and Russian). She lives with her family in Washington, DC.
