The FLSS is a joint initiative of the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) and the Global Center for Financial Literacy at the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB). **Application deadline extended to Monday, October 22.** Professor Tom Guerts will be leading a Real Estate Development Cases course during the spring semester; some cases will be based in DC and two of the cases will be abroad (one in Berlin, Germany, and the one in Mumbai, India). AIESEC offers both paid and unpaid internships abroad to students and recent graduates in over 113 countries and territories. There are 4 different types of exchange opportunities: teaching, volunteering, business, and technology. Internships range for 6 weeks to 18 months. We will be holding information sessions in the coming weeks for all those interested in interning abroad!

On Monday, October 29, the GW School of Business kicks off Conversations on Creative Leadership with a focus on "The City." Hosted by Dean Doug Guthrie, the event will explore the role of creative leaders in bringing together government, the private sector, and academic institutions to solve society's most intractable problems.
The first in a series, “The City" will explore modern civic leadership through the lens of special guest Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. Additionally, the event will open with a panel discussion with the Mayoral Fellows MBA students who developed a five-year economic development strategy for the District of Columbia. Both events will take place in Kendall Auditorium. The event will conclude with a networking reception in Oglethorpe Hall for all attendees.

Alpha Kappa Psi is hosting its Stock Market Competition throughout the month of November. Invest $1,000,000 of virtual cash in your favorite Public Companies and Funds to achieve the highest returns on a million dollar portfolio. First place prize is $100 CASH, second and third place prizes are gift cards to Tonic and Baked & Wired, and all participants will gain invaluable knowledge of financial markets. The Undergraduate Business Association (UBA) in conjunction with the F. David Fowler Career Center is hosting its second annual “Recruiter Ready Panel Series” on October 30. The event features partners and recruiters from the finance & accounting fields.
Moderated by GWSB alumni Betsy Smith and Lara Gori, the panel will discuss the transition from the recruiting cycle to the workplace and what it means to be “recruiter ready”. Featured panelists will hail from various companies including: Ernst & Young, PwC, Guggenheim Investments and Bank of America. The panel will take place from 5:30-7PM with a networking session to follow.

$2,500 Scholarship Awards Available!
The Andrew Stergiopoulos Foundation, in collaboration with the faculty and administration of George Washington University, is currently accepting applications for the 2013 Andrew Stergiopoulos Scholarship Awards. Each year, the Award are given to students in the sophomore and junior classes of GWSB who exhibit Andrew’s outstanding qualities, including academic and athletic achievement, leadership and vision. Traditionally, one or two Awards are given each year. Each Award takes the form of a cash gift in the amount of $2500. Award proceeds are to be used to defray tuition or work-study expenses, for a special research project, or to fund study abroad.
Winners of the Award are selected based on a short application, an essay and a faculty recommendation. The Award and the application process are described in greater detail at our website: www.Sterg.org. For the 2013 Awards, application materials must be received by the Foundation not later than February 15, 2013. Recipients of the Award will be invited to attend a luncheon or dinner celebrating Fellowship Scholarships at The George Washington University.
