NY Career Trek Registration Now Open

The GWSB Undergraduate New York Career Trek is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors in the School of Business interested in pursuing careers in Finance, Accounting, Marketing and Sports Management. Students from all concentrations interested in theses fields are invited to attend. However, the Sports Management sites are limited to students with a concentration in Sports Management.
The Trek includes transportation to and from NYC, overnight accommodations for two nights, alumni breakfasts, alumni networking reception and corporate site visits.

Finance/Accounting: Barclays, Ironshore, Jeffries, M&T Bank and PWC
Marketing: BBDO, Chandler Chicco and Ogilvy
Sports Management: The Mets, MKTG Partners and NHL

Links for Life
The GWSB Office of Alumni Relations is hosting Links for Life: the GWSB Student/Alumni Luncheon Series in order to provide GWSB students and alumni with an opportunity to connect.
This program is designed to:
- Create "links" between members of the GWSB student and alumni population by offering a forum for them to connect
- Give students access to alumni in an informal setting. Students can gain professional insight and ask questions that they may not ask in an interview situation
- Have students advise the alumni on current happenings and activities at GWSB

UBA and Operation Hope

The Undergraduate Business Association and Operation Hope, a national nonprofit Financial Literacy / Social Investment / Banking Group (http://www.operationhope.org/smdev/) have partnered up to present students at the School Without Walls a program entitled "Banking on Our Future". This program consists of 5 modules, of which you would present to the students, once a week in October (about one hour per session). You will be trained in the modules by Operation Hope on FRIDAY, September 24, 2010, 4:00pm - 5:30pm. This training is mandatory in order to teach the modules
This is a small time commitment, but a great resume builder, since this is a nationally recognized organization. Please complete the form if you are interested in participating in this program.

District Youth Empowerment Program
Make a Difference: Come to the DYEP General Body Meeting 5:30pm Friday, September 24, 2010, Duques Hall Rm. 453
Volunteers needed to tutor at-risk youth in low-income communities, teach a college-prep curriculum, and plan several events here in DC. Get involved with GW’s District Youth Empowerment Program. Attention Juniors: Register Your Team for Battle of the Beltway
Deloitte Consulting Battle of the Beltway Federal Consulting Case Competition at The George Washington University School of Business is a case competition open to juniors at GW. Interested students can register as a team of four or individually to be assigned to a team by the Undergraduate Programs Staff. At least one student from each team must be a School of Business student.
Nine GW teams will compete in the GW preliminary round on October 22, 2010. The top two teams will advance to the final rounds on November 4-5, 2010 to compete with teams from American, Georgetown, Howard, Princeton, Richmond, Wake Forest and William & Mary. Interested students should complete their profile and e-mail it along with team member names (if applicable) to ugradbus@gwu.edu by noon September 27, 2010.

Interested in Having Your Own Business Cards?
The Office of Undergraduate Programs is offering sophomores, juniors and seniors the opportunity to have their own business cards printed. Business cards can be ordered in sets of 250 for $25 a set. To order, bring your completed Business Card form and $25 in cash or check made out to The George Washington University to the Office of Undergraduate Programs in Duquès 455. Business cards will be ordered twice during the fall semester with the first deadline being September 24, 2010. If you are interested in having business cards in time for the New York Trek make sure to turn in your form before the first deadline.
