NEW! GWSB Students Published in the Journal of Global Business and Community

The Journal of Global Business and Community is a excellent opportunity to publish their term paper and course work with a special focus on International Business. Having an article published in an academic journal is evidence  of advanced research and publication skills which may distinguish students when searching for professional opportunities that value these competencies. My students in my regional strategy class (Ibus 4202) turn their best papers into publishable articles every semester and a few of them get published. I encourage to turn your course work this semester into articles for the journal. To do so, you should become familiar with the guidelines for submission. Visit the journal web page here

Honoring Two GWSB "Most Promising Minority Ad Students"

Nicholas Mejia and Sebastian Flores, two undergraduate marketing majors, were honored at the Hotel Roosevelt in New York on February 5 by the American Advertising Federation as "Most Promising Minority Ad Students."  They were presented with their awards in New York in front of an audience of top level advertising executives who come to this event each year to hire the best and the brightest.

To qualify, students must be seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.2 overall and in their major.  They must be nominated by a university professor at an AAF-affiliated school.  Both Nick and Sebastian were nominated by Marketing Professor, Dr. Lynda Maddox.  They had been part of the prestigious National Student Advertising Competition team that placed second last year in their district for their Nissan campaign.

While in New York, Nick and Sebastian attended several industry immersion events and were also toasted at a Capitol Advertising (GW's ad club) alumni event organized by Maddox.  Twenty-two Capitol Advertising students from the last eight years attended.  They also met with recruiters looking to hire Most Promising students. The students, who come from universities across the country, are also featured in Advertising Age.
