Congratulations to Dr. Lynda Maddox's Advanced Advertising Class! Students in Dr. Lynda Maddox's Advanced Advertising class won the American Advertising Federation District 2B National Student Advertising Competition on Sunday, June 4, 2008. The students developed a marketing campaign for AIM's new social networking suite of products. It focused on 18- to 24-year-olds and used tongue-in-cheek humor to show why certain conversations are "Best Said on AIM." Judges from AOL/AIM and from major New York advertising and marketing firms who judged the competition said the campaign was very creative, and they liked the student's strong viral strategy. The National Student Advertising competition, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, is the largest advertising competition in the U.S. Over 200 teams compete nationwide. Dr. Maddox and the GW team are traveling to Atlanta to compete nationally at the AAF's annual conference in June. Ten years ago, Dr. Maddox's team won nationally, and she said, "I think this year's team has a good chance of bringing the trophy back to GW!" President: Betsy Smith

David Fowler Career Center Information Sessions The newest technology at the Career Center is INTERVIEWSTREAM, a computerized interview training program. It can be accessed at the Career Center in Duques 560 or at home (using a webcam). How does it work? A recruiter (on tape) pitches interview questions at you and the webcam records your responses. You can repeat your response several times or proceed to another question. A self-evaluation allows you to rate your performance on non-verbal communication (such as eye contact, voice, posture and etiquette) as well as verbal communication (such as impressive introduction, clarity of expression, use of proper grammar, and ability to talk about skills.) Find out more about this on GWorkSB.com It is especially recommended for Seniors who are now preparing for job interviews and Juniors seeking Spring or Summer Internships. If you have any questions on resume writing, internships, jobs and other career oriented questions, please contact Sylvan von Burg at 202-994-3692. On Campus Recruiting Update
