For all Fulbright grant opportunities, students enrolled in a U.S. academic institution at the time of application must apply through their campus Fulbright Program Adviser. For GW undergraduates and recent graduates, the FPA is Francis DuVinage. FULBRIGHT US STUDENT PROGRAM

Are you interested in advanced study/research abroad, or teaching English abroad the year after your graduation?

Eligibility: Current Juniors (for study after graduation), Seniors, Recent Graduates; US Citizens; Min. GPA 3.4 (recommended)

Deadline: GW campus deadline: Friday, September 5, 2008

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the nation's largest study abroad fellowship program, and is designed to give recent B.S./B.A. graduates opportunities for international experience, personal enrichment and an open exchange of ideas with citizens of other nations. The J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board looks favorably on qualified graduating seniors, who are still in the process of developing specific career plans. There are several types of Fulbright grants:

Fulbright Academic Study Grant: These grants generally provide round-trip transportation; book and research allowances; maintenance for the academic year, based on living costs in the host country; supplemental health and accident insurance; tuition, in some cases; and language or orientation courses, where appropriate.

Fulbright Teaching Assistantships: Opportunities to teach English language and conversation classes are available in the following countries (the list is regularly updated): Andorra, France, Italy, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, Turkey, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and Venezuela. A stipend is provided based on living costs in the host country. For an updated list of available countries and placements, visit the Fulbright website here). The Fulbright award covers round-trip international travel, health and accident insurance, and orientation costs.

Fulbright Opportunities in Business: Several countries offer Fulbright business opportunities. These include Germany, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay.
