Offered each Fall Semester
This unique GWSB study abroad program provides an opportunity for business students to take core and elective courses while studying in Paris. Launched in 2001 with GW’s Office for Study Abroad, the annual fall semester program lets students earn 15 credit hours while studying with GWSB and Foundation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (Sciences Po) faculty. All classes are in English so students do not need to speak French to participate.
Students take three core BBA courses, BADM 110, 115, and 130. These courses are taught in an intensive format that lasts for three weeks each and are led by GWSB faculty. In addition, students take two Sciences Po classes. These courses are spread over the course of the semester and give students a solid grounding in the European Union economy.
If a student has taken any of the BADM courses listed above, he/she will not be allowed to participate in the program.Students participate in site visits to companies to learn about issues that managers face when conducting business in other countries. Previous site visits have been to:
Students also gain an appreciation for Parisian life by residing in typical French apartments in the heart of France’s capital. Sciences Po students also participate in the program giving GWSB students an opportunity to form friendships with French students.
Sciences Po, located in the heart of Paris on the Left Bank, is one of Europe’s most distinguished universities. This urban campus is comprised of 17 th and 18 th century mansions in Paris‘ 7th Arrondisement. The Louvre, Notre Dame, Saint Germain, ministries, embassies, corporate headquarters, and the Assemblee Nationale are all nearby. Sciences Po prepares students to pursue future careers in areas such as business administration and public administration. About 1,500 of the 5,000 students at Sciences Po are from abroad. GWU students have access to Sciences Po facilities.
To be eligible for this program, students must have at least a 3.00 GPA and not have taken BADM 110, 115, or 130.
