European School of Business

A year program - Fall courses/Spring internship

The European School of Business, which is consistently ranked as one of the leading German business schools, is located in the Swabian area of Germany. It is just 40 km south of Stuttgart which is in the middle of one of Europe’s largest economic and industrial centers. The School, a part of the Reutlingen University with a highly international student body, offers a unique program of one semester of academic courses and one semester of an internship with a German firm. This is a program for a highly motivated student who is fluent in German. Although there is an international coordinator on campus to help guide the student, ESB expects students to be more independent than is expected in most U.S. universities.

The German system is somewhat diefferent than the U.S. educational system. The GWSB student who is accepted into this program will take more than the traditional 5 courses during the semester, although the work load will be equivalent to 15 credit hours. You will need to work closely with either GWSB study abroad advisor to plan your courses.

Although courses are offered in both English and German, German is most helpful when applying for an internship since the student is expected to independently find the placement with some guidance from ESB.

Housing is available with other international students in residential halls. Meals may be taken in the cafeteria or made in the community kitchen. International students are welcomed in all student activities, special events and sports.

The European School of Business will be a different experience than most study abroad programs and the reward gained from these differences will be invaluable. You may look at the ESB website by going to www.esb-reutlingen.de.
