M.A., Whole Systems Design/ Organization Systems Renewal, Antioch University Seattle.

J.D., “cum laude”, University of Michigan.

B.A., “summa cum laude”, University of Detroit (Year abroad: Institute of European Studies, Vienna) .

Area of Expertise: Strategic management, Business and public policy.

Served as a lawyer in government, private practice and as in-house counsel advising and advocating with respect to complex regulatory schemes.

Skilled educator in nonprofits, leadership, organizational development, strategic management, and business ethics and corporate social responsibility, designing and delivering courses in higher education and workshops to the community and in organizations.

 

Experience:

Policy Analyst, National Council of Nonprofit Associations, 2007 – present

  • Producing public policy news, member policy calls, webinars, and publications.
  • Managing the Nonprofit Congress Lobby Day.
  • Researching, developing and lobbying for a federal legislative initiative for nonprofit capacity building.

 

Director, Leadership and Organizational Development, Center for Ethical Leadership, 2005-2006; Affiliate, 2003-2005

  • Developed and delivered public and in-house education and training in areas of values-based leadership, both individual and shared; collaboration; and change.
  • Designed and facilitated retreats for non-profit and governmental organizations.
  • Responsible for the management, recruitment and certification of affiliate trainers.

 

Interim Director of Education, Evergreen Healthcare, 2005; Manager of Organizational Development & Training, 2003-2005

  • Grew and led new 18-person Education Department that provides staff, patient and community health education.
  • Facilitated Advisory Group redesign of Continuing Education and creation of new Career Development Program.
  • Served the organizational development needs of the hospital, home health/hospice and clinic departments.

Other Legal Experience :

  • Associated with the Seattle firm of Carney, Stephenson, Badley, Smith & Mueller, and litigated, resolved conflicts between individuals and organizations, and advised employee benefit plans.
  • Served as Staff Attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D. C., handling federal District, Appellate and Supreme Court litigation in the areas of employee benefit plans and occupational safety and health.
