Something Very Different
Our comprehensive program provides you the knowledge and the concrete skills you need to understand business operations: accounting, finance, marketing, innovation, and data driven decision-making.
Additionally, the WEMBA program prepares you to anticipate the consequences of an evolving global landscape by sharpening your communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
We take great pride in being a different kind of MBA program. Here are just a few of the WEMBA program’s features that set it apart:
- Center for Cyber and Homeland Security
In today’s business world corporate espionage, fraud, and extortion are part of the cost of doing business; cybersecurity has become an essential knowledge domain for the C-Suite is . Working with GW’s Center for Cyber and Homeland Security, the WEMBA program enables you to focus on the dimensions of cybersecurity most relevant to your career, from liability and legal regimes to information assurance technology and practices—all at a university with access to the top cybersecurity and cyber-policy experts in the field.
- Individualized Leadership Development
The WEMBA program assigns each student a Personal Leadership Coach. Throughout the duration of the program, you will work with your coach one-on-one to focus on your goals, develop a 5-year strategic plan, and analyze your leadership style in order to improve your ability to lead.
- Business Challenge
In addition to examining the world beyond, the WEMBA program’s business challenge compels students to scrutinize their own organizations and deepen their knowledge of the organization’s social-political-technical context. The Business Challenge tasks you to secure a mentor within your organization to address a pressing business issue. The challenge culminates in presenting your case during your closing residency.
- International Residencies Take Learning Beyond the Classroom
By immersing students in two foreign business environments, the WEMBA program provides direct knowledge of the rapidly changing global marketplace. Working in teams, you will tackle real-life business challenges in highly dynamic markets such as the NATO Cyber Defense Centre in Estonia, or a large Financial Services firm in Turkey.
- International Cohort. Invaluable Career Network.
Invaluable career networking opportunities arise when business professionals study together in cohorts. The WEMBA program also opens the door to continued learning. Like all GW School of Business graduates, WEMBA program alumni can, for the rest of their lives, take any course posted on the alumni benefits website.
- Our Commitment to VALOR – The Power to Lead and Protect
The WEMBA program works directly with GW’s Veterans Accelerate Learning Opportunities and Rewards (VALOR) initiative to ensure that the military and veteran community receives the educational opportunities it deserves and enables a diverse range of experience within the classroom. In addition, the WEMBA program strongly supports the beneficiaries of the GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program and Veterans Career Services.
- Our Commitment to International Students
The WEMBA program’s global vision would simply ring hollow without a truly international cohort of talented student leaders. GW sponsors students on both F-1 and J-1 visas, and GW’s Global & Experiential Education Office provide immigration guidance, as well as social, academic and professional programs directly to international students at GWSB to ensure a positive student experience.
