Summary

  • Experienced Instructor and Presenter: Presented at twenty-eight national and international conferences; taught numerous courses at five universities with high student ratings, gave guest lectures at another eleven universities, six of which are in Europe, three in the United States and one in Canada and India each.
  • Analytical and Creative Researcher: Author of twenty-five academic publications and one book. Currently writing a (text)book titled Global Real Estate Capital Markets: Analyzing Risk and Return, accepted for publication by Oxford University Press (2016). The journals in which the papers have been published include the following top-tiered real estate journals: JREFE, JRER, JREPM, and JREPE. As Director of Research authored and co-authored quarterly market reports for Manhattan, New Jersey, and Fairfield/Westchester, containing real estate market information, trend analysis, and predictions.
  • Energetic and Motivated Administrator: Established a successful new program in Real Estate at the California State University in San Bernardino.  Helped to develop the curriculum for this program. Enrollment more than doubled in three years and received awards for student advising. Co-organizer of a very successful yearly visit of University of Amsterdam and Technical University of Berlin students to New York City and Washington DC, including programs at New York University and The George Washington University.  Was the Chair of the Department of Economics, Accounting, and Finance at Marist College.  Was the Director of Academic Affairs of the NYU Real Estate Institute, the largest masters-level real estate program in the world. Is currently the Academic Director of the Global Business Consulting Program for a consortium of four universities: The George Washington University, University of Maryland, San Diego State University, and the University of Miami.
  • Embraced New Technology: Created two on-line courses for Digital University and developed and taught several courses through the Internet for Marist College, Homburg University, and The George Washington University. At New York University presented two webinars, which attracted audiences from around the world.
  • Besides having an academic background, also various non-academic roles: Was CFO of a company in search of venture capital and Director of Research for three large New York Real Estate firms.  Fluent in English, Dutch, and German.  Semi-fluent in French.  Very experienced traveler and in dealing with people from other countries and/or cultures.
  • Strong Background in Finance and Real Estate: Taught numerous classes to undergraduate students and masters students, and co-developed and was the principal instructor at the International Investments Program of the University of California in Riverside which assists foreign business executives in making financial management and investment decisions, developing business and marketing strategies, and forecasting.  Gave a number of financial seminars at various organizations, including New York Institute of Finance, IBM, Morgan Stanley, ICBC, and Real Capital Analytics.
