Stephen A. Leavey is an Employer Development Consultant at the F. David Fowler Career Center. He is a seasoned executive with over forty years of experience in human resources both in the public and private sector. After a career of more than 37 years, Mr. Leavey retired in April 2008 from the United States Postal Service Headquarters as the Director, Human Resources.
One of Mr. Leavey’s major responsibilities was managing the Talent Management programs for the Postal Service which included Succession Planning and Executive Education. Both of these efforts were designed to identify and develop future leaders of the Postal Service. In addition he served as a personal advisor to the senior management of the Postal Service, which included the Postmaster General, Executive Committee and the Board of Governors.
Prior to joining the Postal Service, Mr. Leavey acquired his entrepreneurial skills and management expertise through the ownership of a recruitment firm in Washington, D.C. As President and owner of this firm Mr. Leavey was very successful in counseling client and placing them in highly professional positions.
Mr. Leavey holds a BS degree from the University of Maryland in Human Resources and is a member of several professional organizations.
