Students also have the option to develop individualized concentrations focusing on ecotourism or heritage tourism. The program welcomes students who wish to advance current careers or pursue new careers in the industry.

Online, Distance Education Program

The Online program provides the same world‐class education as the on-campus MTA, but is especially attractive for mid-career professionals seeking flexibility through a distance learning format. The Online MTA program features engaging multi-media lectures and online discussions with faculty and students. It offers students the opportunity to study from their present location anywhere in the world, while positioning themselves for change or advancement. This program provides individualized guidance based on personal and career goals along with networking opportunities with industry professionals.

The online plan of study is uniquely highlighted by two residencies in Washington, D.C. The Inaugural Residency is an orientation week designed for new students to get to know their professors, the program’s current students and alumni, and most importantly incoming fellow classmates. The second residency is the Capstone Experience near the end of a student’s degree, which culminates in a highly regarded MBA-style case competition with industry experts serving as judges. GW also offers a MBA with a Knowledge Domain in Tourism, Hospitality, Event and Sport Management.
