Junior Achievement (JA)

Junior Achievement (JA) empowers young people to own their economic success. Its volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. Since its establishment of the DC office in 1965, JA has served over 500,000 students; today, over 44,000 students in 20 counties are part of the JA annual program. CFEE works to support and partner with JA to carry out its mission and objectives to uplift students in the DC Metro area.

JA strives to prepare and equip students with the capabilities needed to succeed in today's global marketplace, helping youth to develop the confidence to enter the workforce and contribute to economic growth. The core values of JA center on the following:

  • Belief in the boundless potential of young people
  • Commitment to the principles of market-based economics and entrepreneurship
  • Passion for what JA does with honesty, integrity, and excellence
  • Respect for the talents, creativity, perspectives, and backgrounds of all individuals
  • Belief in the power of partnership and collaboration
  • Conviction in the educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning

The Washington Business Hall of Fame is an awards dinner that honors 5 outstanding business leaders and entrepreneurs who, through their work, have made a significant contribution to the quality of life in the National Capital Area. Together with the Greater Washington Board of Trade and The Washingtonian, JA carries out this dinner to further its mission of empowering young people to achieve their own their economic success.

This year's Washington Business Hall of Fame black-tie dinner will occur on December 3, 2013 at the National Building Museum, 401 F Street NW. Click here for more information or to reserve your table today!
