The George Washington University School of Business is committed to preparing its students to engage in the global environment. We recognize that it is important for our graduate students to have access to practical international experiences that will lead to successful careers in the United States and abroad. Whether you are a domestic or international student, the opportunities outlined below will foster academic and professional growth, allowing you to supplement your classroom studies with applied experience in an international context.
There are many educational opportunities outside of the United States that allow you to engage first-hand in the world of business. International Education & Programs offers year-round short-term study abroad programs led by GW faculty. All of these opportunities are tailored for graduate students studying business to allow you to make the most of your academic program at GW and your experience abroad.
Summer and semester-long exchanges are available through our international partner universities abroad with courses taught in English as well as in the language of the host country.
As part of the Global MBA curriculum, all first-year students participate in one of several Consulting Abroad Projects (CAPs). The three-course sequence is taken during the second half of the spring semester which is designed to assist students in preparing and implementing their projects. The sequence includes both an academic component taught on campus in Washington DC, and is immediately followed by a 2-week trip to the client country in mid-May, during which students work directly with their international clients in the client country. By the end of their first year of study all Global MBA students gain experience working on a professional consultancy project abroad. Although locations vary depending on the area of faculty expertise, International Education & Programs seeks diversity in geographic region and business sector when evaluating project proposals.
