The Institute for Corporate Responsibility (ICR) at the George Washington University School of Business and the Cocoa Research Centre at the University of West Indies has been awarded a grant from the Inter-American Development Bank Innovation Laboratory (IDB Lab) in support of its project, “Cocoa, Carbon and Community.”

Targeted at impact investors, the project develops investment opportunities in the cocoa sector in Trinidad and Tobago. The investment opportunities are designed to have attractive financial returns as well as positive social and environmental impacts. The Cocoa, Carbon and Community Project includes innovative features designed to attract impact investors in the Trinidad and Tobago cocoa sector.

A project launch event was held at the George Washington University on April 28, 2023 with the goal of sharing ICR's approach with investors and those interested in finding ways to expand sustainable investments in the cocoa sector. ICR hopes its project will expand investments in the Trinidad and Tobago cocoa sector and in other countries as well.
