Academic Program

In the Professional MBA program (PMBA), you can design your own course schedule to meet your professional and personal needs. The GW PMBA consists of two levels of courses. The first level includes twenty one required core courses of 1.5 credit hours each (total 31.5 credit hours) and two mandatory “selectives”, one in Information Systems (1.5)  and one in Business Sustainability/Responsibility (1.5) for a total of 3 credit hours. The second level includes twelve, 1.5 credit hour elective courses or any combination of 1.5 and 3.0 credit elective courses (total 18 credit hours). Electives should be taken after the majority of core course requirements have been fulfilled.  A listing of electives can be found under Knowledge Domains

Elective Courses

Choose from any 200-level elective course offered by a School of Business department: Accountancy, Decision Sciences, Finance, Information Systems and Technology Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, Strategic Management and Public Policy, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. You may complete up to six credit hours outside the School of Business.

Program Format

Under the Flex Option, you take one, two, or three courses per semester at times convenient for you. Most classes are offered weeknights between 4:30 and 10:00 p.m. and on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

ACCELERATED M.B.A. PROGRAM SAMPLE CURRICULUM

The first year is a cohort format with a set schedule. Students participate in an online-preparatory course and weekend-long orientation residency prior to the start of the AMBA Program. The second year provides you with the flexibility to choose from a wide array of elective offerings.

Joint Degrees

Through special credit-hour transfer arrangements, students may earn joint degrees from GW: a joint MBA/JD degree with the Law School or a joint MBA/MA degree with the Elliott School of International Affairs, and a joint MBA/MSF degree within the School of business.
