Accreditation

The George Washington University School of Business is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). The university is also accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the regional accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education and The Council on Post-Secondary Education. Currently GWU is in the process of applying for accreditation through PMI.

Project Management Students Association

The Project Management Students Association (PMSA) was formed with the specific mandate of providing a forum for current MSPM students to exchange ideas, and to share experiences and expertise in the project management field. Students and alumni are provided an opportunity to gain exposure to, and acquire knowledge on the most current PM practices. This is achieved through coordinated and timely interactive sessions, facilitated by the most knowledgeable and experienced organizations and personnel in the industry, ultimately providing MSPM students and alumni with an excellent platform for networking in a an intellectual and social environment.

ESI/GW Masters Certificate in Project Management

The George Washington University has an agreement with ESI International. Students holding the ESI-GWU Master’s Certificate in Project Management enter our program with Advanced Academic Standing and are eligible to waive nine credit hours from their program of study.

Project Management Institute (PMI)

PMI provides global leadership in the development of standards for the practice of the project management profession throughout the world. PMI’s premiere standards document, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), is a globally recognized standard for managing projects in today’s marketplace. The PMBOK Guide is approved as an American National Standard (ANS) by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). PMI is committed to the continuous improvement and expansion of the PMBOK Guide, as well as the development of additional standards. PMI quarterly publishes The Project Management Journal (PMJ) that is the professional journal of PMI. It is available to all members of the Project Management Institute. PMJ publishes significant and useful articles dealing with the broad interests of the field of project management. It achieves an editorial balance among research, technique, theory, and practice.

International Project Management Association (IPMA):

IPMA began as a discussion group of managers of international projects in 1967. It has now about 20,000 members from all over the world. IPMA promotes high standards of project management through their certificate programs, conferences, expert seminars, training courses, global forum, research, and publications. One of the publications of IPMA is International Journal of Project Management (IJPM) that offers wide ranging and comprehensive coverage of all facets of project management. Published eight times per year, it provides a focus for worldwide expertise in the required techniques, practices and areas of research; presents a forum for its readers to share common experiences across the full range of industries and technologies in which project management is used; covers all areas of project management from systems to human aspects; links theory with practice by publishing case studies and covering the latest important issues.

Association for Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE International):

With about 6,000 members world-wide, AACE International serves cost management professionals: cost managers and engineers, project managers, planners and schedulers, estimators and bidders, and value engineers. AACE International has members in 78 countries and currently includes 70 local sections. AACE publishes Cost Engineering Magazine. This is the monthly international journal of cost estimation, cost/schedule control, and project management read by cost professionals around the world to get the most up-to-date information about the profession.
