Global & Experiential Education is pleased to offer a variety of programming throughout the academic year for international students to enrich their academic and cultural experience.

Business Off-Campus

The George Washington University is strategically placed in the heart of DC. To take advantage of its location and well-known neighbors, Global & Experiential Education periodically organizes briefings and tours to places of interest in DC. Past events have included briefings at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, tours of the White House and Capitol Building, and urban hikes around major DC sites.

International Education Week

Each November, the Department of State in conjunction with the Department of Education promotes International Education Week as an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. In honor of the week, GWSB graduate programs organize faculty lectures, symposiums, and an international photo contest all themed around international education.

International Student Institute (Orientation)

All incoming graduate international students in the School of Business are invited to attend International Student Institute organized at the start of each semester. Incoming students will be notified via email about orientation dates and times in order to RSVP.

The orientation is intended to help facilitate:

  • Connecting with administrators, second-year students, and fellow first-year international students so that students have an existing social network early on in their program.
  • Acquiring practical skills and learning about resources on campus for strengthening areas critical to academic success.
  • Learning about GWSB career services for international students.
  • Acclimating to Washington D.C., The George Washington University, and the School of Business through presentations and sessions.
