The Foundation of Modern Argentina: Economic and Business Perspectives
Buenos Aires, Argentina
May 27 - June 15, 2007

The Program
Argentina is a country of great natural beauty and vast landscapes. After experiencing a deep economic crisis in 2002, the country is on the road to regaining its status as one of the most important economies in Latin America. This summer program introduces the student to Argentina’s economy and business environments and explores its history, politics and society. Through a combination of lectures, visits and immersion experiences, the student will develop a solid understanding of this intriguing country. The program will be of interest to undergraduate students in business, international affairs, economics, and Latin American studies as well as those interested in a summer abroad immersion. The language of the Argentinean program is English.

Buenos Aires
The capital city is a vibrant metropolis of distinct neighborhoods and myriad of cultural attractions. Its museums and parks provide lovely open public spaces. Argentineans’ love for food, soccer and social life make this city an emporium of choices for the visitor. Next to the large Río de la Plata basin, the city is a gateway to nearby destinations.

Host Institution
The Universidad de San Andrés is one of Argentina’s leading institutions. This small private university prides itself in providing a comprehensive liberal arts education and attracts the most talented students in Argentina. More information on this institution is available at www.udesa.edu.ar.

Family Stay
Students live with host families selected by San Andres. This immersion into a local family develops a further understanding of Argentine society through daily interaction with family activities. A typical family stay includes an individual room and bath, and two meals per day. Transportation from your host family to the University is provided every morning by a van that picks up students from nearby locations.

Intended Students
This program is aimed at the undergraduate student interested in contemporary Latin America from a variety of disciplines including business, economics, international affairs, and Latin American studies.
