Bio: Wilton Corkern is President and CEO of the Accokeek Foundation. He has more than 30 years of experience in education, conservation, and cultural heritage organizations, having previously worked with the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area and the National Endowment for the Humanities. He has served on numerous Boards and Commissions, including tenures as Chair or President of the Boards of the Environmental Fund for Maryland, the National Coalition for Heritage Areas, Friends of the Potomac, and the Museum Advisory Panel for the Maryland Historical Trust. He is currently a Trustee of the Corina Higginson Trust, Chair of the Steering Committee of the Washington AIDS Partnership, and Vice Chair of the Sustainable Communities Working Group of Washington Grantmakers.

Corkern serves as an occasional panelist for National Geographic Traveler Magazine and has held adjunct faculty positions in the Department of History of Maryland Baltimore County University and George Mason University.
