After earning his PhD, Rajam taught at the University of Colorado at Denver and at the National University of Singapore, where he was the founding director of the Asia-Pacific Executive MBA Program, the first of its kind in Asia. He went on to become founding dean of Universitas 21 Global, an online business school.

Rajam left academia to serve as regional director for advisory services at the Economist Intelligence Unit, a division of The Economist Group, where he supervised research and provided briefings on the Asian business climate to the heads of multinational corporations. A regular commentator on CNBC, BBC and Bloomberg, Rajam has consulted or taught in executive-education programs offered by the Harvard Business School, IBM, McDonnell Douglas, Mobil, GE, Samsung and other leading institutions and corporations. Before joining GWSB, Rajam was founder and CEO of EduMetry Inc., an assessment-of-learning services provider.
