Areas of Expertise: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Marketing, and Information Systems

Prior to entering the world of academia as a member of the GWSB faculty in the Department of Decision Sciences, Alam held a number of key executive and managerial positions with several of India’s most respected organizations. He has worked with large multi-product engineering organizations such as HMT and Guest Keen Williams.

He also has held senior management positions in leading media companies. He worked as general manager of marketing for Mid-Day Publications, publisher of Bombay’s largest-selling afternoon paper, and as marketing manager for India Today, one of the country’s largest-circulated English-language news magazines. Immediately prior to coming to GW, he was employed by the Times of India, India’s largest media group, serving as general manager in the corporate, music and television divisions.

Alam has presented a study to the North American Case Research Association (NACRA), and his research has been published in the Proceedings of the World Conference on Production and Operations Management.
