Tevfik began his academic career at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul. He has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with a major in manufacturing and a minor in heating/cooling systems. His thesis was on “cooling cycles in plastic molding machines”. Tevfik worked for a French elevator company, Sodimas S.A. in Istanbul for four years as an analyst at the logistics department.

Later on, he got his MBA with a concentration in Decision Making and his Ph.D. in Decision Sciences with a minor in Statistics/OR from the George Washington University. He is currently working as a visiting assistant research professor for the Institute for Integrating Statistics in Decision Sciences.

He is interested in stochastic modeling and bayesian inference with applications in service operations management.

Tevfik is also well known as a die hard fan of the soccer team from Istanbul, Besiktas.
