José Andrés’ Star-Studded Speech Highlights GW’s Commencement Ceremony

WASHINGTON—With the U.S. Capitol as a backdrop, roughly 20,000 parents, families and guests watched nearly 6,000 degree candidates graduate from the George Washington University at a ceremony on the National Mall.

In his speech, world-renowned chef José Andrés urged GW’s class of 2014 to redefine success to include making an impact on the world.

After a star-studded video purporting to show the university’s first choices for Commencement speaker—which included Gwyneth Paltrow, Owen Wilson, Eric Holder and Morgan Freeman—Mr. Andrés said he was honored and humbled to be selected as the speaker.
