Congratulations on your child’s decision to enroll at the George Washington School of Business! As a parent, there are many ways to support your student in his or her quest for a fulfilling career.
We would like to convey some information to you about the career services your son or daughter will begin receiving. Within the first few weeks of arriving at campus, students will participate in an Orientation Session introducing them to RISE ABOVE THE REST: The Undergraduate Career Management Process.
Key highlights for each year follow:
In Freshman year students create an initial draft of a resume that sets the stage for their next summer job or internship.
In Sophomore year students take the Career Leader Assessment to identify 3 top Career Paths and learn how to pursue an internship.
In Junior year students learn how to create a personal marketing plan and develop a targeted resume.
In Senior year students execute a targeted job search strategy and learn how to negotiate and accept job offers.
Your support in this process is highly important to shaping the attitudes and behavior of students preparing themselves for satisfying and productive careers. We encourage you to take an active interest in your son’s or daughter’s exciting career development.
Sincerely,
