Dear GWSB Alumni,
The 2013-14 academic year is officially underway!
We are excited to welcome 400-plus incoming undergraduate students and more than 675 new additions to our graduate student body.
As part of the GWSB Community, each one of us plays an important role in building the School of Business, representing it to the outside world and contributing to a vibrant academic environment. We are fortunate to have strong alumni volunteer leaders including the GWSB Dean's Board of Advisors led by chairman Mitch Blaser and GWSB Alumni who serve on the GWAA Board including GWSB Representative, Michelle Harris. Additionally, we have counted over 200 GWSB Alumni who served in a variety of volunteer roles to strengthen our community this past year.
Now is the time to start thinking about what role you will play this academic year. There are several opportunities for you to be actively engaged in the life of GWSB this fall.
As you may have heard, Doug Guthrie is no longer serving as the Dean of the GW School of Business or the Vice President of China Operations. For more information, please see the announcement from GW Provost, Steven Lerman: http://gwtoday.gwu.edu/message-provost-about-gwsb.
D. Christopher Kayes, professor of management and chair of the Department of Management, will serve as interim dean of the School of Business while a search process is conducted for a new dean. Our academic programs, forward-thinking initiatives and the education we provide our students remain unquestionably strong under Dean Kayes's guidance, as well as the leadership of Associate Deans for Graduate and Undergraduate programs, Liesl Riddle and Isabelle Bajeux Besnainou.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement with GWSB. Your participation in our network is vital to the success of the School of Business and benefits our students and alumni alike.
