Dean Guthrie Energizes and Inspires Alumni Network

A record number of GWSB Alumni returned to campus for GW's 2011 Alumni Weekend, held September 15-18 in Foggy Bottom. Alumni in attendance experienced how GWSB is on the cutting edge of reframing business school education.

Highlights included Friday afternoon's 5th Annual Ramsey Student Investment Fund Conference where more than 130 students and alumni gathered for the annual discussion on the fund's performance. Mark Shenkman, MBA '67, gave the event's keynote address which featured his thoughts and predictions on the future of the US economy and financial markets.

Friday evening GWSB Dean Doug Guthrie hosted an alumni reception at Duquès Hall where alumni from as far away as Jordan gathered to hear Dean Guthrie's vision for the future of the school.

"Throughout the weekend I was thrilled to hear many success stories from our alumni who are positively impacting business and society." said Dean Guthrie. "With alumni help and involvement, I look forward to continuing to build a thriving and powerful community for the benefit of students and alumni alike."

On Saturday, Dean Guthrie joined Dean David Dolling of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences for a discussion with alumni on how Washington and industry leaders can partner on innovative ideas that will ignite an economic renaissance. Christine Coleman, BA '91 and a member of the GW Alumni Association Board of Directors, was in attendance.

"There's so much new energy with Dean Guthrie and the business school, and hearing him and Dean Dolling speak was great," she said. "The entire weekend was a whirlwind, and everything was so well done."
