MBA Reunion: It's Not Business as Usual

"So much has happened with everyone over the last 10 years both personally and professionally.  People have gotten married, had babies, changed jobs, changed jobs and changed jobs. Some have even founded new companies! It's a very different world than it was a decade ago; perfect time to reconnect, and network, with fellow GW MBA graduates. I'm really looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones." - Noah Israel, MBA '99, Reunion Committee member

We have numerous events planned for our MBA Alumni that you won't want to miss!  If you would like to register for any of the weekend events, please register at the MBA Reunion Hospitality Suite, located in the lobby of Duques Hall. The hospitality suite will be open from 12:00 pm-5:00 pm on 10/2/09 and from 8:30 am-4:00 pm on 10/3/09.

Here is a brief overview of some of our highlighted events:

On Friday we will be holding the 3rd annual Ramsey Student Investment Fund Conference.  Dean Susan M. Phillips will give opening remarks before the keynote address by Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Russ Ramsey, BBA '81.  There will be a panel of industry leaders speaking on "Asset Allocation and Agriculture: Post Crisis Investing."  After an extremely successful inaugural year for the MBA Mentor Program, we will honor our mentors and engage new ones at the MBA Mentor Program Orientation and Reception on Friday night.

Saturday will play host to President Knapp's State of the University Address.  In the afternoon, join the GWSB Alumni filmmakers for popcorn, entertainment, and discussion to follow.  Our keynote speaker for the 2009 Reunion is Miranda A.A. Ballentine, MBA '04, Wal-Mart's director of corporate affairs for sustainability.  She will address her career path in sustainability, GW's impact on her and the policies/processes she is implementing to make Wal-Mart a more sustainable company.  Dean and former Federal Reserve Board Governor Susan M. Phillips will join us later on Saturday night to host the MBA Reunion Reception where we will honor Jennifer Boulden, MBA '04 with the very first Dean's Distinguished MBA Alumni Achievement Award for her work in founding Ideal Bite.  This reception will be the toast of MBA Reunion Weekend and features dinner, cocktails, music, and mingling.

Don't let MBA Reunion Weekend 2009 pass you by.  Remember it's not business as usual!

Alumni Weekend featured School of Business Events:

3rd Annual Ramsey Student Investment Fund Conference - Asset Allocation and Agriculture: Post Crisis Investing

In the aftermath of the global financial crisis and recession, many investors are questioning the need for and the effectiveness of asset allocation. Is portfolio construction still relevant? How can investors protect their portfolios from another market downturn? Investors are also seeking investment themes that could outperform the market. One theme gaining ground among investors is agriculture. Many believe that continued urbanization and changing diets around the world will increase the demand for food and water, resulting in strong returns to agriculture investors. The 3rd Annual Ramsey Student Investment Fund Conference will explore these issues and more with a keynote speech and two panels of industry experts.

GWSB Alumni Film Festival

Please join GWSB Alumni Jonathan Neil Schneider, BBA '84 and David Leaf, BBA '73 as they screen their films during Alumni Weekend. Jonathan Neil Schneider will show "Mr. Schneider Goes to Washington" of which he is a producer, and David Leaf will show "The U.S. vs. John Lennon" of which he is a producer. Both alumni will be on hand to answer questions from the audience.
