The EMBA Alumni Association Starts The Year Off With Enthusiasm

On Wednesday, January 13th the EMBA Alumni Association held a very successful meeting with its members.  The alumni in attendance spanned across decades of the program. For many of the attendees this was their first time participating in the EMBAAA.  A lively discussion took place between the members, the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, and Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, Murat Tarimcilar.

As the EMBAAA moves forward with the new direction of their group, strong and passionate leaders are a necessity.  If you are an alumnus/a of the EMBA program and would like to get involved in a leadership position or be a part of a steering committee, please email James Robertson, EMBA '07.  The EMBAAA wants to make your EMBA alumni experience as meaningful and purposeful as possible.  To do this, we need your continued involvement.

There is now a LinkedIn Group available to the EMBA Alumni Community.  We encourage all EMBA Alumni to join and connect with each other.

On behalf of the EMBAAA and the GWSB Office of Development and Alumni Relations, we would like to extend our thanks for attending the EMBAAA meeting and helping us build a successful alumni association.  We hope to see you at future meetings, events and programs!

GWSB Is Hitting The Airwaves!

The GWSB Office of Communications has been sending its message to prospective students in several commercials.  Throughout the month of January, keep an eye out during Good Morning America and the ABC 7 News to see our students and faculty featured during commercial breaks!

The GW Business Plan Competition Gets Underway

Here at GWSB we're doing our best to stimulate the economy by encouraging our entrepreneurial students to start new businesses.  Perhaps you're familiar with the fact that 80% of all new jobs in our economy are created by entrepreneur-led small businesses.

Again this year the GW Business Plan Competition will be awarding $30,000 in seed capital to the four best business plans.  The deadline for student teams to enter (with an Executive Summary) is February 1st.  We've added more workshops this year to fill in any knowledge gaps students might have.  All the details can be found at  Details about the workshops can be found on the Resources tab.

Sponsored by Annette and Richard Scott.

Support GW Students in Michelle Obama's Service Challenge

The Office of Alumni Relations would like to announce a unique alumni service initiative launching this spring: The Alumni Service Weekend, April 10-11. The Alumni Service Weekend is an effort to engage alumni in First Lady Michelle Obama's challenge to GW students, faculty, and administrators to complete 100,000 service hours by the end of the academic year. While alumni service hours will not count toward GW's total service hours, we believe it's important for our alumni to be part of this exciting time at GW. We encourage them to act as ambassadors of the university in their communities and set an example of service leadership for our students.

Alumni are encouraged not only to volunteer, but to track your hours on our web page, and send us your pictures from your service experiences.
