Meet the Deans

Susan M. Phillips (Dean)

Susan M. Phillips joined GW’s School of Business as dean and professor of finance in July 1998. Previously, she was a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from December 1991 through June 1998. Dr. Phillips‘ areas of specialization include monetary policy, regulation and supervision of financial institutions, derivatives, financial management and economic theory of regulation. She also serves on the boards of directors of the Kroger Company, the Chicago Board Options Exchange and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. (more about Dr. Phillips)

Pradeep A. Rau (Senior Associate Dean)

Pradeep A. Rau, a professor of marketing and international business, joined the School of Business in 1990 and served as chair of the School’s Department of Marketing from 1995-2001. His current research focuses on international marketing strategy and retail analytics.(more about Dr. Rau)

Murat Tarimcilar (Associate Dean for Graduate Programs)

Murat Tarimcilar was named Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in March 2007. He is an Associate Professor of Decision Sciences and has been a faculty member at George Washington University since 1999. Prior to assuming his role as Graduate Programs Dean, he held the position of Chair of the Decision Sciences Department. His areas of expertise include multi-criteria decision models, applications of Operations Research methods in different business settings, Bayesian Decision Analysis and Production Rate Optimization. Lawrence G. Singleton (Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs)

Lawrence G. Singleton became Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs in September 2007. Prior to assuming his role as associate dean, he was and continues to be a member of the faculty of the Department of Accountancy. His areas of expertise are financial and managerial accounting, and he writes and consults on financial and managerial accounting and auditing in both the private and public sectors. His clients include Cisco Systems, Inc., America Online, Inc., Harley-Davidson Motor Company, The NASDAQ Stock Market, the National Investor Relations Institute, the National Geographic Society, the Public Relations Society of America, Siemens Corporation, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, and The World Bank. Krishna R. Kumar (Associate Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies)

GWSB has named Krishna R. Kumar associate dean for research and doctoral studies. Kumar, also a professor of accountancy, has research interests in the economic analysis of accounting and auditing issues. He teaches financial accounting and financial statement analysis. (more about Dr. Kumar)
